Franck Ribery was born on 7th April 1983 at Boulogne-Sur-Mer, in France. He started his football journey with Conti Boulogne as a youth player in 1996, at the age of 13. He moved to Lille Academy that year and he stayed with them until 1999.He joined amateur club US Boulogne, in 1999.Ribery made his senior team debut for US Boulogne, in 2000.He played 28 matches for them and scored six goals. In 2002, he moved to Olympique Ales and played 18 matches for them. Ribery joined Stade Brestois 29 a Ligue two side, in 2003. He started his professional career with Stade Brestois 29. He played 35 matches for them and scored three goals. Ribery joined French Ligue 1 club FC Mets, in 2004.He played 20 matches for them.
Ribery moved to Turkey and joined Galatasaray in January 2005 over a pay dispute with Metz. He helped Galatasaray to win Turkish cup, in 2005.He scored a goal and set up a goal in the final. He played 14 league matches for Galatasaray. Ribery moved back to France that year itself and joined Olympique Marseille. He helped Marseille to finish second in Ligue 1 in 2007.Ribery helped Marseille to reach two French cup finals. He won UEFA Intertoto cup with Marseille in 2005.He scored 14 goals for Marseille in 68 matches.
Following an impressive world cup, German giants Bayern Munich brought Ribery to Germany, for their club record amount of 25 million Euros. He made his debut for Bayern Munich in a competitive match, while playing against Werder Bremen in 2007 in a DFP Ligapokal match. Bayern Munich went on to win DFP Ligapokal in 2007.However injury forced him out of the final match. He helped Bayern Munich to win German Bundesliga as well as German cup in 2008.Ribery has scored 20 goals for Bayern Munich in 53 league matches. Ribery won the German footballer of the year in 2008.UEFA included him in the UEFA team of the year in 2008.
He at first played for French Under-21 team during 2004.In 2006, he made his senior debut for France while playing against México. He was instrumental along with Zidane, Malouda and others in world cup 2006 for France. He helped France to reach the final, in which they lost to Italy in controversial circumstances. After the retirement of Zidane, Ribery is a very important member of France’s national team. Ribery played in Euro 2008 for France, but they dint make much of an impression. Injury to Ribery affected France and they made an early exit. Ribery is very much a driving force in France’s 2010 world cup qualification matches. Ribery was the French Player of the year in 2007 as well as 2008.
